Hello there,
The reason I came to this site was because of my family history .
they all came from around Shirebrook, from Mansfield , pleasley, langwith.
and the family names are Truscott and Savage , I only have a few photos
of family . My grandfather was Willis Leslie Truscott and as far as I know
he had a brother Albert and mother Harriett Father Nicholas William Truscott
and could have had more children . Harriett maiden name was Paulson.
My grandfather was born 1911 , if any one can remember the family please get in touch.
Thanks Deb Brewis
Thank you Chris

My name is Gary Fox
and I am researching my family history and currently focussing on Shirebrook.
My late grandmother was born in 1907 at 1 Minerva Street (off Vernon Street which in turn is off Station Road) and was the 13th child of 13 children. I have today visited Minerva Street sadly only to find that the houses are gone and replaced with industrial units.
Her parents (my great grandparents) were George William Tickhill (31/07/1867 - 28/01/1937) and Elizabeth Tickhill (1867 - 14/02/1941). My great grandfather was made Chairman of the Derbyshire Mines Executive (Shirebrook) in 1897 and would have been well known at the time.
I would greatly appreciate any information or photographs that anyone may have in respect of Minerva Street, my great grandfather or the Derbyshire Mines Executive (Shirebrook).
Thank you for your help and congratulations on hosting such an interesting site.

Hello,
Could anyone give me any details on Stubbin Wood special school .
We are thinking of moving to Hodthorpe and we have a twelve year
old son
with moderate learning difficulties. Any information would be
welcomed.
Thanks R Ward.
